I’ve just installed on my HTC One-x and did some self-testing. I noticed that remote commands do not work if I’ve killed the avast! Mobile Security app process using the basic task manager that came on my phone. Can this be corrected? If not… kinda defeats the purpose of anti-theft if you just have to turn it off without a pin or anything…
we can not avoid this. if you kill the task using this feature, this kind of “freezes” the app. the OS does that. this is the reason why Anti-Theft is covered by an obfuscated name so that thieves do not find it.
PS: this was introduced in newer android versions, on 2.x versions it should still work.
Thank you for your response. The only protestation I have is that I only killed the Mobile Security app and not the obfuscated anti-theft process. I was under the impression that the anti-theft features should continue to work in such a case. If this is incorrect, so be it… :-\
it depends, the programs route messages to each other so it could happen that AMS is registered as message receiver and in this case it wont work.
