Hi everyone!
I recently installed Avast antivirus on my computer, and I’m wondering if it could be affecting my connection to the remote desktop app. I’ve been using TeamViewer, and it worked fine for the past couple of days, but today the connection got interrupted, and I can’t reconnect. Could this be related to the antivirus? Maybe it’s blocking the connection? Should I try using a different remote desktop app?
The TeamViewer timeout message isn’t related to antivirus programs. If you’re using the free version of Teamviewer it has some limitations. Based on the message it looks like you’ve exceeded those limits. The program thinks you’re using it for commercial purposes which is why the connection is being cut off. You’ll need to either find an alternative or switch to the paid version. One alternative I can recommend is https://www.helpwire.app/ I’ve been using it for a while and it works well.
Yes everything was working fine for a few days. But before I installed the antivirus I was also using remote desktop without any problems. But now I keep getting TeamViewer timeout messages and the connection keeps dropping.
If Avast sees Teamviewer’s remote access as a security risk, it might block or limit its functionality. If that happens, you can stop it by adding Team viewer to Avast’s exclusion list.
However, you mentioned it was working fine for a few days, so it’s probably not the antivirus.
Do you get any error messages when the connection is lost?
I have never had any problems with Team Viewer and Avast Free.
It doen’t seem to affect my TeamViewer connection. Have you tried disabling Avast and narrowing the cause?
