Terminate resident providers

I have a minor question:

I sometimes terminate a resident provider via Terminate button.

I have a long time ago when doing this, marked ‘do not show this dialog next time’, the result is that the providers are not started at next boot as I wish after terminating them.

I know realise that the reason for this is that the answer to the qustion not shown because of my marking of ‘do not…’ defaults to YES on Persist changes?

I would like it to default to NO, Can that be done?

If not, I have to go back to answering NO and get the question every time.

Not a big deal, but perhaps a setting in the ini-file??

Why Terminate the provider when you can pause it, what is it you are trying to achieve by terminating it ?

Good question, if a paused provider is as ‘dead’ as a terminated one.

I thought a teminated provider was more ‘dead’, but out of your question I see
I was wrong.

It depends on what provider it is you are pausing as to what happens.

For example if you pause the Web Shield provider, the data still comes through the web shield proxy but it isn’t scanned, Terminate it and the proxy isn’t used at all I believe.

That is why I asked what it is you are trying to achieve (and which provider you are terminating) ?
