Hi, I just had a window pop up on my screen that says
TERMINATED: Avast One (update.sh) via com.avast.submit wants to connect to 192.168.1.1
Deny or Allow
It doesn’t look like any other Avast window I’ve seen. What should I do with this?
Thanks!

Reported to Avast.
I wouldn’t do anything.
But that will stay on my screen on top of everything else if I don’t do anything. I need to Deny or Allow.
the third option that I se listed is Cancel
If you can’t minimize that popup, select Cancel till there is a reply from Avast.
Hello biz5, is it windows platform or mac? Can you show what the small button with “i” says? Can you please check what application shows it (for example from taskbar). It looks like a fw dialog, but not from windows avast AV.
Hello biz5,
could you please tell us whether you have some other security app running? (eg. little snitch)
Also, could you please generate a support package for us and share it?
Thank you,
B.
Hi, com.avast.submit is part of Avast installation. It’s responsible for sending analytical data, crash reports, and also support package. In case you have installed some third-party firewall software that is blocking it, it’s possible that the Support package won’t be delivered.
Note that com.avast.submit connects to Avast servers. It does not connect to the local gateway (192.168.1.1) directly. Unless something makes it to, e.g. by redirecting DNS addresses.
To answer your questions, this is on a Mac. I clicked on cancel, the popup appeared again later and I clicked on cancel again – and haven’t heard from it since. Until it pops up again, I can’t click on the little “i” until it does.
I do have Little Snitch running, but in the mode that doesn’t block anything. I don’t have any other security software or anything else that might block com.avast.submit.
I haven’t been able to figure out what generates the popup. Where do I generate the support package for a Mac?
Do you recognize the popup in the photo I attached in a previous post? Does that look like it’s from Avast? It’s nothing I recognize.
I do wonder if this is related to a support request I submitted to look into a system Monterey file that Avast flagged as an Agent-JY Trojan: MRTv3
Thanks.

The popup is from Little Snitch. Google can find similar screenshots:

Brilliant. I’ll remember I can search for images of popups in the future. Much appreciated!
I reinstalled Little Snitch and it was blocking part of Avast: update.sh
because there is no code signature for this. I Allowed it, assuming that’s correct.
