I’ve got both Firefox and IE set right for cookies. But hotmail just won’t open and IE refuses to acknowledge I have cookies enabled. Strange.
I can’t find anything about Serial tde. Just says it opens with “unknown application.” Would it be ok for me to just delete all of those files you listed since none of them seem to have been accessed for a year or more?
Hi, sorry about the delay. I tried earlier, but had problems with the forum.
Rather than outright delete the questionable files, I think you should rename them with the extention .old. If a problem arises you can change the extention back again.
One of the usual culprits in cookie blocking is a firewall. Are you using a third party firewall. Also, the HJT log you posted still shows avast. Can you please post a current log? It may have a clue.

Over the yesterday I had lots of intermittent problems, pages were taking forever to load again, some as long as 200+ seconds, gave up and came back later.[/off-topic]
The log looks ok. I take it you still have mail problems? Firewall is out. One more thing to check,
Host file, it’s located here and is an extentionless file called Hosts. Open it with note pad and check the lines below the ones starting with # . See if there is anything related to hotmail.
One strange thing that has happened is that on one of my last reboots, I believe after running ATF Cleaner (I don't know if that is the cause, or just a coincidence in timing) I can no longer access my hotmail account from either Firefox or IE. IE tells me to "enable cookies" and even though I have followed all instructions for doing so I keep getting that message. Firefox just cycles with the message "loading" but it never loads, and tell me to enter in "classic mode" if it's taking to long. However, if I do enter in classic mode I get the mailbox screen but can't do anything. No buttons will work, can't access my mail. It's like I get a "frozen screen" or am looking at a "snapshot."
I'm able to access hotmail from my laptop, so I know it's something specific to this system. Could emptying all cookies using ATF cleaner have something to do with it?
Same problem on my pc. Cookie or not it is same.
