I have a big monitor 1920x1200 and blown up (to identify some of the images) I even have to scroll left/right and up/down.
It took 2200 images to make up this collage. I had 1875 so you’ll find a few duplicates but you’ll have to look hard to find them. 
Yes, hard to detect. When you blow it up you get pixelation so it gets hard to identify duplication, not to mention hard to remember images duplicated amongst 2200 images.

Nice. How long did it take you to make the collage?
No doubt it is a site/application that does it, rather than a manually created collage.
All the user would have to do is provide the source images and image that you want the collage to look like.
