You are unable to modify your profile for the moment.
- The problem comes from drive by spammers, who having registered put objectionable or commercial links in their profile signature to try and gain link promotion, etc.
There have also been cases of the PM function being abused to spam forum members, so you will notice that you can’t use the PM function either.
Unfortunately because of the actions of others legitimate members suffer by the actions to prevent this spamming.
I believe you have set your email to be Private and only you and moderators are able to view it.
By default any new replies to topics that you create or participate in should notified using the email that you registered in the forums with.
You can download somewhere else, e.g. internet café, college computer, municipal library, etc. and save the setup-file on a usb-stick.
You can install from the stick, no problem.
Then there is only the incremental update for the vps which is manageable via dial-up.
Do I check the box to keep my e-mail PRIVATE>>> YES, unless you want everyone on the forums to see it...and spammers ;D Your email is known by the forum software, and that's enough if you want to be notified about threads updates. Now, before you ask, you will see that even when set as private, your email appears under your username in the threads >>> only you can see it, and the admins ;)
