I’m not sure where in the forums to post this, lol, as so many posts here require a helpful response. I just wanted to say Thank You Muchly!!!
Last time I needed to renew my subscription, the ‘reminders’ were excessive and obtrusive. This time, I find them to be quite amenable;
hence, I find myself not just inclined to renew my subscription, but happy to!
(The only times they were mildly obtrusive this year was when they appeared during a full screen movie, but that only happened twice, and w/o closing the full screen window or interrupting the movie, so I really didn’t mind.)
I have just updated to avast! 8 and expect to run with it for a few days to see if everything is copacetic. If all is still compatible and functional,
I will be happily renewing with avast! Hope to report my renewed subscription within the week… (I have 11 days left.)
Again, thank you for hearing previous grievances, and for making changes to suit. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!
I’m happy that things have changed regarding these reminders. Approximately 1.5 months ago, just before it was time to renew, I was hammered with these reminders. I wasn’t very happy at this point.
If you don’t mind me asking, what exactly changed? Smaller, less frequent?? Will you please post some screen shots?
The reminders would appear vivid RED out of the corner of my eye, which would put me on ALERT! momentarily. Since a reminder is nothing to panic about, the RED was excessively alarming (especially since the alert notification used to look too much like one you’d expect if something had gone very wrong). Now the screens are more calm in colour (mostly white) so they effectively stand out with out initiating a momentary panic. Now they appear about once a day or once a reboot (roughly), as opposed to several times a day (including twice in the first half-hour after reboot). Now (after updating to avast! 8 ) there is a notice/countdown in non-panicky script but still in red at the top of the UI (which I appreciate); red seems appropriate here. Now the alert notification (of avast! 7) does not crash anything that I have had running, whereas it used to crash anything full-screen (tho I haven’t had any full screen games running while receiving notice, so I don’t know if it would still crash my game; it’s possible that the notice doesn’t interrupt my full-screen games anymore, which would be a bonus to me). (Also, I haven’t had a mid-session notice since upgrading to avast! 8, so I don’t know if/how often one might appear now?) Anyhow, that’s pretty much what I can vaguely recall from the last time I needed to renew vs now. Hope that helps.
