The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error - can't register

Hey there,

This is a new one for me. I’ve used Avast for years and have never run into this challenge. It seems that every time I try to register the program, I get this error message. Should I just give up and instead uninstall the program and start over?

It is often caused because another av is on the system or not removed completely.

What OS/SP ?
What exact version of avast ?
Is there any other security (related) software installed ? (or was there)

HI there. Not sure if you will actually receive this message.
My problem is that I believe when Windows 10 is updating, Window Defender is taking over. I can’t seem to getAvast to work at all. Should I just give up and allow “Windows Defender” to be my antivirus?
I am stumped. Even when I turn off Windows Defender, they have a note that it will “automatically turn back on” so it seems I am fighting a losing battle.
