The Application has failed to start side by side config is incorrect

Hello Avast Forum,

So here’s the issues im having, I dont know when did this starts to happen, but all i know is, my avast icon was white blank, then I tried the AvastUI icon in my avast dir, and Im getting, “The Application has failed to start because it’s side-by-side configuration is incorrect… blabla”, of course, before posting on this forum (made an account just because of this) i searched it on the internet on how to solve this problem, some says, repair via Control Panel, tried that, and “HTMLayout.dll cannot be loaded to properly start GUI” i also found a thread on this forum which was 2010. So, I made an account and hope you guys can help me.

I don’t even remember what Avast version im using, I think it’s a Avast! pro, Im using windows 8.1, got avast from A*L IT Hypermarket. Thanks.

but right after this problem, i installed malwarebytes to scan for malware…

  1. Download Avast Pro Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
