The Avast AntiTrack DISASTER

Just wanted to get my thoughts out there on AntiTrack for mac…

After looking through a few website evaluating security options for Mac, I decided to give the Avast suite a try.

I was able easily purchase the ultimate subscription, install everything and set up most of the programs.

The exception was AntiTrack. No matter what I did, I kept getting the error code. I called support and simultaneously plugged in the screenshot of the error to Gemini.

Tech support took 25 minutes to tell me what Gemini managed to in about 30 seconds–this has been a known error that has been a problem for the software for about a year.

Here’s the problems I have with this:

  1. THERE WAS NO DISCLOSURE BEFORE PURCHASE THAT THE PRODUCT WASN’T FULLY FUNCTIONING. This is the big one. How can you sell a product without warning the customer that it’s not working. “You’re gonna love this car, it’s super awesome!” he said while privately thinking, I hope he doesn’t mind that the brakes aren’t currently working.

  2. How has this been an issue this long without a fix OR A DISCLOSURE?!

  3. Why did it take 25 minutes to tell me this with tech support if it’s a known issue?

  4. Why wouldn’t they offer compensation?

Kind of disgusted by the lack of transparency with it. I’m gonna take a day or two and decide if I want to request my money back and do a chargeback on my account, if needed.

Disappointing product with a disgusting cover-up.
