the avast antivirus program has stopped, or is in an inconsistent state

Hi there,

I just downloaded the latest Avast v5.0.677 and I am having problem with avast service that from time to time stops working and I have to go to Avast and press FIX NOW to have the service again. I already reinstalled the program ( as explained on the avast web site with their uninstaller) and same happen again…

these are the last few lines in the setup.log file

P.S. I am using the free registered version with win XP pro with SP3

P.P.S. Also if I go to the services.msi I can manually start the avast antivirus service

Which was your old antivirus before avast?
Any other security program that could interfere?

Please, upload (attach) the avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\Setup\setup.log
(or the shorter C:\Users\All Users\Alwil Software\Avast5\log\Setup.log).

If the file is too big for the forum, post the last 400-500 lines of it.

The previous version was the latest 4.8 i think. The only other program that I have is Outpost firewall and that’s it. Is there any private info in the log file that i should be concern by posting it?
