This behaviour only occurs about every 1 in 4/5 times every boot. This started occuring since I updated to avast 7. There have been a few posts possibly linking this to SSDs and/or 64 bit systems (or comodo).
Either way, the solution is that various other windows services do not start or hang and a reboot is required. How can I help track down this problem, would an uninstall/reinstall help? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thx
lister, in your post you indicate that you are using a 64-bit version of windows… in your signature, you say that you are running windows xp… if you are running the 64-bit version of windows xp, avira’s “system requirements” say that the current version of avast is not compatible with the 64-bit version of windows xp…
maybe you are running the 64-bit version of windows 7 and you just haven’t updated your “signature”?
lister it could be worth a try for a clean install using the avast uninstall tool in safemode for all versions of avast you have ever installed http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
When will this be officially included in an update? My laptop was fine since the report of this bug but now all of the sudden it started again. I was so pissed i tossed avast! of the laptop and installed MSE for the time being. It has to do this crap when you need the computer the most.
