I have started getting the following error, since I started using the plug-in for the Bat. It happens on exit.
THEBAT caused an invalid page fault in
module ASWCMNB.DLL at 0177:64085fc0.

Hi,
first thing, did you reboot after installing new avast! version?
please check following:
-
in MAIL directory (typically in c:\Program Files\The Bat!\MAIL)
should have been file AvBatEx.bav
-
in the same directory in avconfig.ini should have been something like this:
[Checkers]
Count=1
Checker #1=TAVDLLPlugin.C:\Program Files\The Bat!\MAIL\AvBatEx.bav
-
if you have logging enabled, please send the log file to sedina@asw.cz
thanks! pavels

stuart,
please try the following:
- kill all running programs
- kill all avast components (from the Processes tab of Task Manager - namely ashsimpl.exe, ashDisp.exe, ashServ.exe, aswUpdSv.exe, ashMaiSv.exe, if running)
- place the file http://cat.asw.cz/~vlk/aswScan.dll to your avast folder (it should be possible [should not trigger a sharing violation error] since you did what I said in step 1. and 2.)
- try it again. It should help.
Please be prepared that the avast auto-updater will soon overwrite the file with the original version (and will possibly want you to reboot), but that’s OK - this is just to test if the update worked…
Thanks

What I said applies to WinNT/2k/XP but you’re using Win98/ME, right?
It’s a bit more complicated to kill the processes under this OS…
Let me put it this way: how proficient are you in computers? Are you able to e.g. work in DOS command-line etc?
Thanks

I am only at this computer occasionally and have just got back. As soon as I did I got a new version download that fixed this problem. :o
Now that’s performance.

silly question, do you need bat installed for the bat-plugin. I dont have/use bat but tried to add bat-plugin through add/remove avast -change (just to see what it was lol) and nothing appeared in avast providers list or any folders.

Yes, you have to.
First, there is no sense in having the plugin without The Bat! :), second, I believe the plugin is installed into The Bat! directory.

…and third, it doesn’t really have any UI by itself, so you wouldn’t see anything special, anyway…
