Which is the best firewall that will protect me from hackers and which will not use much resource?

Is Comodo the best?

I have been running PC Tools Firewall Plus now for around three weeks. It uses minimal resources and is very user-friendly. Personally, I would recommend it!

The choice of a firewall is a personal preference. As you know, protection against hackers and other nasties involves a layered approach. That is, install a good anti-virus programme (my choice is Avast Pro), use a well-respected anti-malware programme (my choice is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware), keep all of the aforementioned as well as Window$ up to date and most importantly stay away from the porn! :slight_smile:

Avast 5 Pro antivirus, is there included a firewall and spam blocker?

AIS beta works well for me on the firewall front. Unobtrusive, does its job and no apparent overheads (win7 64 bit)

Just ran shields up and this is the only failure

Ping Reply: RECEIVED (FAILED) — Your system REPLIED to our Ping (ICMP Echo) requests, making it visible on the Internet. Most personal firewalls can be configured to block, drop, and ignore such ping requests in order to better hide systems from hackers. This is highly recommended since “Ping” is among the oldest and most common methods used to locate systems prior to further exploitation.
Not sure how to stop that yet

Otherwise all ports gave full stealth

As indicated by essexboy’s post, the firewall and antispam will be in the Internet security version, not the pro version.

Uncheck “Allow outgoing ping and trace requests (ICMP)”

I am using Online Armour and I am very satisfied with it

I have Online Armor premium on two all but identical computers. one runs Firefox as default browser. The other runs google Chrome. OA works well on both. OA is a bit of extra work with the user regularly being requested to make judgments on software passing back and forth through gateway (UDP, TCP). This is okay, good practice, and just have to learn the commands and where what or when is appropriate to master it. Always google anything to check up, what is, and how is used. OA has the learn mode feature as well, which seems to work well and adds that behavioral element, ‘fingerprint’, to the security seam.

Outpost 2009 has this autolearn feature in their free edition and it is all you need to run that firewall, which is a very simple firewall. And works very well.

OA shield is a very reputable security product with strong database facility (oasis) to back up the internet gateway.

Wow comodo really have a bad reputation but why does people not put real reviews about product in the net??
That would have been easier for us to choose what is the best!
