Today i am traveling over the Web,and i saw a recently Test on
Troyan Horses Scanners.I have looking of this earlier publiced where
on this Forum,but there whas nothing found.
It is importent becourse Spyware are these days a bigger problemm
for your computer than,say in 2004.
so i have a link and i hope that it works!

Trojan scanners are generally called anti-spyware scanners and this topic has been covered many times in the forums, one (a poll) was started by yourself ‘The best Spyware Program’ http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=24704.0.

The link works fine but requires translation from German.

Best is also a subjective (personal) test as it is something that ‘best’ suits ‘your’ needs. This may well differ from person to person, like some desire a resident solution others prefer an on-demand solution. The majority of them have been covered in one way or another in the forums.

Yes i know this,but this is a total other test,and if you click on the link,
than do you see many other links to interesting virus and Spyware
programms.
O and it"s in german,is this a Point? I have earlier said ,that i coming
from a small country, but we read and talk everything. WE MUST THAT.
Way? if you are traveling then is it a must that you a litle or more can
communication whit people from other Country"s.
And Good or bad? We try it,and thats importend.
If there someone from United Kingdom on hollyday visit our country,
then we speak English becourse we understand that the visitor
not speak our langueass.

Hi Cactusjack,

Well you know what DavidR is pointing at that in this world to-day English, be it the U.K. variety as is his mother tongue or the American drawl of that (once) vast colony of theirs is now the “lingua franca” of this world. As I speak or understand several of the Germanic languages, I feel quite at comfort at websites that are either in English, German, Polish or my mother language, that is Dutch. I also have a fair command of Polish as a tribute to my wife and as a way to communicate with this rich culture.
This is because I am interested in linguistics, did some scientific work in the realm of dialectology, but for most of the others here there are some remarkable automatic translating tools, that can translate from a foreign language to english on the fly, so that with a little bit of effort the “general contents” of that site can be understood, like Babelfish etc.
So let us crumble this “Tower of Babel”, then where people understand each other, there is even further room for harmony, and this is certainly what this webforum is also about.

I have tremendous envy for people who can speak multiple languages. I used to travel a lot internationally on business, and every time I struggled with understanding someone, and got a little frustrated, I always reminded myself of how I wished I could have spoken their language as well as they were attempting to speak mine.

What I did do, was learn a lot of please, thank you, good morning, etc. words to at least try to show respect to their language and culture.

Personally, I have a “tin ear” for languages. I can repeat a word in another language over and over for a whole day, but when I go to bed, and wake up the next morning, I can’t remember what it was. People who can learn multiple languages are truly gifted.

With all that said, now to my point…

The reason that most native English speakers don’t speak other languages, is quite simple. They don’t have to. Business and the business of the internet are English based. I’m not saying that this is politically correct to the rest of the world, but it just is.

Cactusjack, I don’t believe that David was criticizing you for posting a German language link. I believe he was simply pointing out to you, that your question had already been posted by you and discussed by the members of the forum.

Frankly, and I’m not going to put words in David’s mouth, but duplicate questions hint at “trolling”, or “firing for effect” is another relative term, rather than truly seeking an answer to a question. Something to avoid on forums.

David is one of the most helpful people here. Please take his answers at face value, and please don’t read in any hidden intent. If you do take his answers at face value, you will learn a lot.

Sorry if my comment “The link works fine but requires translation from German” was somewhat abrupt, it certainly wasn’t meant in any to be a slight on the German language.

However, I think you understood what I meant by your comment “But i know what you mean. THIS FORUM is in English, yes so be it.” It wasn’t meant to be a rebuke not to post links to other languages than English, but meant as an indication for anyone wanting to visit the link they would have to use a translation service like AltaVista’s Babel Fish http://babelfish.altavista.com/ if they didn’t understand German.

I admire your self taught ability to speak English and more so to be able to write it, for me it is Altavista Babel Fish.

I spent several years altogether based in Germany, Osnabruck and Bielafeld during that time I thoroughly enjoyed myself, learnt a little of the language also self taught but I never learnt to write in German (or spell as the two locations clearly show). That was over 20 years ago and I fear I have forgotten most of it, but I could eat and drink well as I don’t seem to have forgotten that.

I must Say that i am confuse about the reacthings,and first of all,excuse me
DavidR. It whas not me intention attack you,not it all.
But me link to the German Site is clear for every one. You have no translating
need.The results are there,and in 1 second you can see it.
And my point where, that in this year the Spyware are so dangeres,that
the latest test about Troyan Horses can help every one. Thats the reasen that
i posted this.
And i believe that this thema every year come back.
Than me item about Languesses,well this is importend for my Country,
but i must exept that i write on a Forum in English,and not for nothing.
Every one here understand English,and so you can get contacts whit

There really isn’t anything to apologise for.
It is nothing more than some things don’t translate well or may be misunderstood when English isn’t your first (and in my case only) language.

Some might have misunderstood your post as and attack on me (I know it isn’t) and were trying to put your mind at rest, that they didn’t think I would attack you. In the forums we do tend to stick up for each other as it is an avast family and were anyone to directly attack you they would be just as quick to speak out for you.

It is a series of misunderstandings and we do appreciate your input and 2006 is supposed to be the year of the spyware/trojan a big threat. This will no doubt continue to be the case in 2007, so yes it is good to monitor what is going on in the anti-spyware/trojan defence.

I am writing in a other Forum and every day comming messages
about Spyware infected comps.
It seems that Virusprogramms better than ever,but Spyware is
seriusly a coming up problemm.So and how to remove the Troyans?
The most people ask us what to do. And advice for this people is a
very usefull item.

What is important is to apply a multi application/level approach to security, no one program will provide 100% protection. However, care must be taken not to install conflicting programs, like installing two resident anti-virus or anti-spyware programs, only one resident and you can add further on-demand programs to act as a back-up on-demand scan.

Probably one of the most important things it to use common sense, many of the infections still come by email attachments or in links to bad web sites in emails, both from unknown or unsolicited (you didn’t ask for it) emails. Don’t click the attachments or links, no matter how attractive it might seem.

Keep your OS, browser, firewall and security software fully up to date.

You might also consider proactive protection, in order to place files in the system folders and create registry entries you need permission. Prevention is much better and theoretically easier than cure.

Whilst browsing or collecting email, etc. if you get infected then the malware by default inherits the same permissions that you have for your user account. So if the user account has administrator rights, the malware has administrator rights and can reap havoc. With limited rights the malware can’t put files in the system folders, create registry entries, etc. This greatly reduces the potential harm that can be done by an undetected or first day virus, etc.
