Hi Cactusjack,
Well you know what DavidR is pointing at that in this world to-day English, be it the U.K. variety as is his mother tongue or the American drawl of that (once) vast colony of theirs is now the “lingua franca” of this world. As I speak or understand several of the Germanic languages, I feel quite at comfort at websites that are either in English, German, Polish or my mother language, that is Dutch. I also have a fair command of Polish as a tribute to my wife and as a way to communicate with this rich culture.
This is because I am interested in linguistics, did some scientific work in the realm of dialectology, but for most of the others here there are some remarkable automatic translating tools, that can translate from a foreign language to english on the fly, so that with a little bit of effort the “general contents” of that site can be understood, like Babelfish etc.
So let us crumble this “Tower of Babel”, then where people understand each other, there is even further room for harmony, and this is certainly what this webforum is also about.
