The Constant Error Messages for Deleting Temp. Files are back!

I believe this used to be solved a couple of versions back where I never encountered any error messages for avast!, but after doing a new format on this computer and putting on avast (now updated to the most recent version, 4.8.1229) thing’s have been behaving oddly even though the format was doing properly and with the exact same OS but with slightly different hardware. It seems like there’s a lot of issues regarding cleaning temp files again and I’m noticing a bit of a slowdown/odd response when clearing temp files extensively using ccleaner (using secure cleaning with 1 swipe, though doing it without the additional swipe handles alright [supposedly]) and just simply deleting firefox cache files through its own options. A list of the errors are shown below (some of it is cut off since the list exceeds the max amount of characters that are aloud within each post–I made a second post to help fix this though they’re generally repeats).

or

Two points.

I don’t know why avast is involved in scanning the deletion of files, it isn’t a default setting.
So have you Tweaked the avast Standard Shield settings, Customize, Blocker, Blocked Operations ?
Or have you increased the sensitivity to High or made any other tweaks ?
Something is protecting those files as the error 00000005 (5) is access denied and that is not in avasts control.

Are you running in the Owner account when trying to delete the owner files ?
The index.dat files are usually in use and would normally be deleted on boot, so that might be the reason for the access denied error for those ones.

Well the interesting thing is that I’ve done various scans and there has been no other behaviour from my computer that suggests that it is infected in any way (all the programs I’ve installed are legit and I’ve been using safe browsing + common sense when downloading or surfing). Also I am using CCleaner (as I’ve stated earlier) which is most of the time what makes these errors since I don’t use anything else to clear all temp files in general and I don’t manually run in and delete them either.

Anyway I am on the “owner” account (I just replaced all instances of my name in that log with owner) and it is the admin account on this computer. As far as I know I haven’t tweaked many settings at all in terms of file protection or avast’s own settings. All I’ve done to avast was routine setup I always did after I installed it when I first formatted this computer (changed a few settings so that auto-VRDB was disabled, turned off sounds, changed skins, tweaked update settings and changed the scan level from normal to high). So I’m a bit at a loss as to why it’s behaving this way…

Me too as avasts on-access scanner is scanning opened executables, modified or created files and that doesn’t include deletions, it might scan the file that opens which is going to delete the files but not the files themselves.

As the errors are all permissions related (and outside the avast4 folder) and you have to investigate why they might be protected and by what but it isn’t avast.

Personally I don’t even bother with these logs unless there is a physical error displayed to the screen as they aren’t very useful to a user (developer debugging perhaps) and there aren’t errors but Info really as avast can do nothing about access denied.

I don’t know what logging level you have set, see image ?

If it is set to debug (should only be used if asked to enable it to track down a fault) then you are going to get all sorts of useless (to the user) junk in the logs.

You didn’t say what section of the avast log viewer these are in ?

Well I’m not entirely sure as to why these files are protected now all of a sudden as I never had such an issue before, but I can say that my logging setting is the same as yours (except the log file size is bigger). I know these messages generally don’t mean much to me but I do feel that it’s best to iron out any potentially big problems that are in avast! even if it first off appears to be something small. I guess I just like the mentality that everything’s running smoothly on my computer.

Well whatever has changed, it isn’t avast as it can’t set the permissions for other locations outside of its own folders. I’m not sure how might find that out.
