Hi Justin_xp,
Part of my answer can be found here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=37487.0
I think general anti-malware will change as the malware is changing ever so fast now. Indeed whitelisting is going to be brought in as the latest form of panacea, and a panacea against malware really does not exist. What if a hacker is able to inject malware into a whitelisted program, process or what have you = just that one tiny malicious dll? How would you detect it, because the malware of to-day is mainly criminal by origin or spyware directed or tracking ware, and does not make that much noise, it sits there silently in the background waiting for it to be activated to do whatever it has to do: compromise as much comps as possible…
I think we have to evolve further into the concept of a layered defense (all sorts of anti-malware, in-browser security, behavior analysis). But the most important thing is to make the user aware. If some have taken security measures, while others (and those are large hordes) click at everything, do not know hoot from toot, and parrot the most horrible nonsense about security, we may be far from any solution, and the major part of the Internet will be made up of zombie hordes botnest infecting other clueless users.
But maybe I am too pessimistic in this scenario and it is not all doom and gloom, thanks for posting your link and your question,
your friend polonus aka Damian
Thank you for your View on that Polonus I was just wondering on that matter having read many different views on the subject I didn’t really know what to think but I have thought about you said a hacker being able to inject a virus/Trojan ect. into a whitelisted program and there could be the flaw in the plan
Do not trust in apocalyptic prophets…
Do not believe in panaceia solutions…
Do not believe in all-in-one-everything-together solution for all…
Lol pardon me but the first one made me laugh Tech as for the second and third ones are true as far as I know
Hi Tech,
I believe there is no cure for all - panacea, I believe there is no all-in-solution, but there must be something why I stayed malware free for the last couple of years or at least since I have joined this forum.
And yes my friends, I think the Apocalypse is nigh, or rather the end of the Internet as we have known it, because there are so many people with Apocalyptic views that they turn it into a self-fulfilling prophesy.
An optimistic persons says the glass is half full, while the pessimist claims it is half empty,

P.S. NoScript was the best that happened to Firefox and Flock users!
