I completely agree that there should be a place to post completely Off topic things. Either that board should be resurrected or a new one with better control should be created. I enjoy some of the things that have been posted here and am guilty myself of possibly pushing the envelope. ;D

Many seem to think this is a social forum rather than a support forum. That includes both new and old users. That’s one of the reasons, though I’ve been a member here six plus years, I don’t show up around here very often. Personally, I think that the off-topic stuff gets in the way of why these forums exist.
The original Off-Topic forum got carried away, was closed, and so it didn’t screw up people’s post counts, was left in archive, rather than being deleted from the forums. As I understand it, the Off-Topic forum is a dead duck, period, end of story. And in my opinion, that’s a good thing.

To my mind the most frustrating OT at the moment is UPDATES. Over the last few months the “chatter” has got worse. When you are busy and notified of an update nothing worse than finding nothing other than opinions!!!

+100% It isn’t hard to start a new thread to discuss a product or it’s update.
The update thread should be just what it’s title implies.
I also don’t see any need for posting notifications for programs that
automatically update their own program. If hyou use that program, you receive
a notification, If you’re not using the program, then you don’t need to know about
the update either. ;D (Just my opinion.)

I think they closed it because that the Off-topic has no sense to security at all. One good point…
Others is that its was maybe sharing too much spams there.

I think since you weren’t here at the time this forum was open, you shouldn’t speculate as to what caused the closure
