Helloooo
Yesterday I used the new version of the free Avast and did not like.
The hourglass mouse arrow keeps appearing frequently.
Why Avast insist in the scan files that have been looked at before?
There is some expectation of improvement of this?
Also, after exiting the screensaver, Avast is a button on the toolbar of the desktop.
These are old problems.
I’m use Windows XP Professional SP3.
Thanks !
Until avast scans all the files and populate the permanent cache, indeed, could be some delays.
Are you using any other security software?

Hi Tech
No other security soft.
Even when Avast updates itself also appears the damn hourglass mouse pointer.
And I had done a full scan before.
System configuration? OS, RAM?
I think its installing updates…
Even my WinXp Sp3 with AMD sempron 1.80 Ghz + 512MB Ram is running fine.

old OS + old CPU + old HDD connection (IDE)+ not enough RAM >>> don’t put the blame on Avast. If you don’t upgrade, both hardware and software, and I guess you don’t intend to, you’ll find that any recent software doesn’t run properly. It’ll be worse and worse. That’s normal.
Could it be related to updates? avast tries to update each four hours…
By the way, the title of the thread: “The new version of Avast free is still not perfect”.
There isn’t a perfect software

Please, upload (attach) the avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\Setup\setup.log
(or the shorter C:\Users\All Users\Alwil Software\Avast5\log\Setup.log).
If the file is too big for the forum, post the last 400-500 lines of it.

I have XP and have no problems.
Do as Tech requests and we can help you.
Update your signature with your system specifications and you can do that in your PROFILE.
But if you uninstall avast, how do you expect we help troubleshooting it?

It’s what I hope the technical team of Avast to do more tests.
But if the problem occurs only in your computer…
I have no hourglass in both Windows 7 and XP… And for sure they don’t have any also… Otherwise they will have fight to solve it.
