Henrique, which avast version is installed in your computer? Free, paid (pro or AIS) or trial?

Free

prod-ais.vpx is found in the free version also. Checked on my two PCs, one XP SP3 and one Win 7 SP1.

Did you registered it?
Which was the old antivirus installed (before avast)?
How did you uninstall it?

Thanks Zyndstoff.

As far as I have noticed the mentioned files servers.def.vpx and prod-ais.vpx changes with every virus definition updates. And these are the files responsible for avast to check with the server whether the current Virus definition is current or need an update…

hi,

I have also running a old system. But i have nothing faced such problem.Avast running smoothly, and updated regularly. No problem so far.

Thanks,

Hei

Why does the script module Avast only scans in Internet Explorer ?

Why not scan in Firefox ?

not compatible with FF, has been mentioned a million times.

So Firefox has no protection ?

Thanks !!!

don’t jump blindly to conclusions, FF has tens of other protections ::slight_smile:

  • avast web shield
  • avast network shield
  • NoScript extension ::slight_smile: but reading the content of your posts here, I don’t advise you to even think about it.

You misunderstood what is said, the web shield and other shields work with firefox as normal, the script shield is something else again. So you still have the same level of protection as you did in the past.

Avast certainly has some protection to Firefox.

Accessing this site and prove: hxxp://www.tradefarma.com.br

Test the module the behavior with the PC Flank Leaktest and see how Avast that makes the browser is open:

About the leak tests limitations: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=29259.msg247460#msg247460

Henrique - RJ it will be better if you insert your signature

Another test that Avast fails (behavior): http://tooleaky.zensoft.com/

Download: http://tooleaky.zensoft.com/tooleaky.exe

you do know that avast free has no firewall, right?

Right !

But Avast should prevent this tool open IE and can not.

Fact !

I came back …

I just run HijackThis 1.99 and Avast allowed run while being a unknown application.

This is a risky behavior in case of malware.

Avast needs to be improved.

Thanks
