The popups missed when two or more virus are founded.

For the newest version of avast, when founding two or more virus, only the first one can be shown with a pupup and noted in the information dashbroad. Sometimes it really annoys me, because the files are already handled but i don’t got any information. This issues also happens in the web protect. When two or more websites are be blocked, only the first one can be shown, the other infected websites are blocked without any notice. And the number in the avast logo when founding virus is really disturbs us, because it’s always wrong and can’t be remove conveniently.

If you get a alert or not depends on what part of avast is detecting things.

You can always find more information in the log file(s).

The number is not only showing the amount of harmful things, but also other notifications and you can reset it.

You could perform a clean installation of avast but I do not think it will change things.
But is it up to you if you do so or not.

Thanks for your reply.

But the thing is that when avast real-time protect detected two or more infected files in a very short time, only the first one can be shown with a alert and be noted in the dashboard, the other files are just be removed without any information. And i don’t think its a good choice for a general user to care for the log file(s) all the time.

In the version before the BB is added (like 16.X), avast will give alerts for each detected file for such a situation.

Did you not get the usual avast toaster alert popup, bottom right of the screen ?

That used to show the number of detections (top right of the popup) and had left and right arrows so you could move through them.

But it rather depends on what detected them.

Thanks for your reply.

After I update to 17.X version, the arrows in the popup are disappeared. I have already clean installed the avast. And in the information center, there is only one record even the avast has removed two or more files infected.

In the 16.X version the arrows are exist.

OK, I wasn’t certain on the arrows as it is a rare occasion when I get an alert, even when checking out sites or beta testing and then that is generally a single alert.

I do think if they are going to push this into the notification area, it should record all alerts. If these were file system shield alerts, check out the C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report\FileSystemShield.txt report file.

I don’t know what your settings are for the File System Shield ‘Actions’ are, basically I have mine set so the First action is ‘Ask’ as I want total control over any actions taken. This is fine for me, but may not be for everyone.

You should also check out the Virus Chest and see if you have any new arrivals, this would at least give you more information on original file name and location, plus the malware name, etc.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Well, in the report all the infected file or blocked websites are recorded. But still not shown in the information center or have popups. Maybe it’s a good choice to set the action of the file protect to “Ask” to make sure i got all the alerts.

In the version of 16.X, when avast found a virus, it may have several same popups for a single file. And i guess in the 17.X version, avast block out the popup when happens in a short time, which in my opinion is really annoying.

Thx again.

You’re welcome.

Did any of these detections show up in the virus chest ?

Yes, all the infected files have been added to the virus chest.

You should be able to right click on them in the virus chest and get information on the detections as I mentioned.

Thank you for your advise.

It’s useful for me to find the removed files, but for the blocked websites, this way may not be feasibility.

And in the virus chest, I found out another bug, which is the file “time of transfer” and “Last modification time” will be 1970/8/1 in the properties if the file are detected by the scanner(full scan).

And in the settings of sandbox, the “browse” in the user-defined storage of sandbox could not be clicked. Which means it’s difficult for me to defined the location of sandbox storage. QAQ

Also please note that if baddomain.com is blocked by webshield, all subsequent connections to that domain are blocked without notifying the user for a period of time (5 or 10 minutes, iirc). This is to 1. not waste resources like CPU time, 2. not to annoy user with a popup every 5 ms or 5 seconds.

Hello,

The situation you mentioned is that avast detect a simple baddomain.com, which is not the situation I asked. When facing with several different baddomain.com(like, open several infected websites in a short time), avast only shows a simple popup for the first detected website, and the other domains are just blocked without any information. In the version of 16.X, avast could have multi-popups for different detection with a narrow in the popup to switch.

Yeah, I understand the issue you are having – 2 different resources (URLs or files) being blocked despite only showing one popup to the user –, I am merely adding my knowledge about a slightly related topic.

OK, thank you.

I hope the issue could be handled, at least let me know why it’s work like this. QAQ
