last day, I tested avast internet security(version 5.0.507.0 ) in vbox.I ran a virus in sandbox, then the virus file had been writen into the windows folder. Before I ran this virus,I tested other applications in sandbox, the files that released by these application had been isolated in the avast’s sandbox folder. The virus file which had been writen into the windows folder means the sandbox has some defect.
Then, today’s morning,I tested the lastest version–533,it was same as 507.
If you want,I could send the virus file to you.
P.S.:My English is poor, maybe I don’t describe clearly,I am very sorry about this.
okay that’s interesting. I wouldn’t advise anyone testing that but truth is we don’t know much of this sandbox in terms of security. Gotta test that in a VM one of these days…anyway truth is we tend to talk about the sandbox on the forums in terms of functionality, i.e.will such program run well or not if virtualized, safe locations etc…but hey the main goal remains what does’t it protect from, and does it protect at all. This thread is no good news. Comments from the devs appreciated here. Pk?
