this fp will be fixed asap
Hello,
Thank you to correct it as soon as possible !
I also use mIRC (v.6.0) which is detected as a virus since this morning. I know that my mIRC is not a virus because I use it for several years !
I am waiting for you,
Jean-Louis
Well, using it for years does not mean it can not become infected with its last update. True, this is false positive, I myself reported another one Vista Codec Pack related few hours ago… but using something for years sure doesn’t mean it’s still safe. Sometimes viruses attack your most used and most trusted applications and in a blink of an eye, you’re doomed. For example, even your antivirus sometimes can can become infected… even avast! what exactly had happened to me few days ago. One nasty virus infection that sadly wasn’t detected by avast!, infected all my startup files, so I had to restore one of my previous system images… from back in the 2007.
please fix it!
I think it is already fixed… did you update your virus database?
Sorry,
even after updating avast on a PC on which mIRC is not installed and which is - a priori - not infected my mIRC version v.6.0 located on a CR-ROM is detected as containing a virus: Win32:Trojan-gen{other}.
Help me please !
Jean-Louis
send the file to us via mail, pls… virus[at]avast[dot]com - password protected archive (don’t forget to mention the password in e-mail body) - “Trojan-gen false positive mIRC” as subject…
thx
I sent you yesterday the mirc.exe file of mIRC v 6.0 zipped with the password : virus. Have you received it ?
I see to day January 17 , after updating the new version of avast, that this file mirc.exe on my CD-ROM is again detected as containing a virus.
Is there a mean to continue to use this software mIRC 6.0 in spite of this false positive detection of avast and avoid false alarm ?
Do you plan to correct avast quickly ?
Or on the other case, does I’ll be obliged to use another antivirus ?
I want to continue to use this version of mIRC because it is free, while new versions are not.
Jean-Louis
They usually correct false positives very quickly…
You could use the Exclusion lists:
For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…
For the other providers (on-demand scanning such as the screen-saver or the Simple User Interface):
Right click the ‘a’ blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button…
You can use wildcards like * and ?.
But be careful, you should ‘exclude’ that many files that let your system in danger.
I had the same issue but within 48 hours it was fixed for me after 2 updates though.i use mIRC 6.16 though…
