but I’m curious. I know AVAST Safezone and the browser is primarily for banking and other types of business transactions. Is there any reason it can’t be used for regular surfing? It would seem to me that running in a secure, virtualized environment would make it much safer for just general surfing. Just wondering.
While it probably gives better protection than a default browser, it is intended to be an inverse sandbox.
While the standard browser sandbox is to protect your system from the weaknesses of a browser, Safe Zone is to protect your info from weaknesses of Windows. With SafeZone there is going to be functionality trade-off also.
Running your browser in the standard Avast! sandbox is by far the better option, since if you have SafeZone, you already have the traditional sandbox as well, just stick with that one for casual browsing.
Thanks, Gargamel. I don’t knowingly go to risky places. The web these days is a minefield, with even supposedly safe sites not all that safe any more. I’d just been playing in Safezone and the question I posted popped into my head. Safezone is a great idea.
