This site could have harmed your computer

Attempting to access my own website hosted off-shore on a shared server with a fixed IP I receive a warning from Avast! that “This site could have harmed your computer.” with no option to dismiss the warning and proceed.

This is going to be a huge problem for me. I don’t know if the IP Address is on some sort of Blacklist for past misdeeds or what, and I don’t really care. I need to be able to access it.

Is there a workaround or do I need to switch from Avast! to some other AV?

Report it to avast lab

Also consider cleansing your website from that what caused the alert.
Scan at https://aw-snap.info/ fileviewer and lint it here https://webhint.io/scanner/

Just also check the IP at VT for possible blacklisting and alerts https://www.virustotal.com/gui/

Just closing your eyes for that situation or going in denial mode won’t help,

I am not exactly sure how I can cleanse my website when I can’t access it. Seems pointless in any event as there is nothing there at the moment - I want to access it to upload content.

Accordingly, the scan at virustotal showed “clean” across the board (including Avast!) Not surprising as there is no content there to be dirty. I see no reference on that site to blacklists so that is a dead end.

Your “denial mode” comment is not at all helpful.

Done. Thank you. Any idea about the turnaround time?

Sometimes an hour, sometimes next day

Avast URL scan is not part of Virustotal blacklist check so you cant have seen a avast result

You are correct. I mis-read Avira as Avast!
