Threat Blocked ... but it obviously is not.. driving me insane

Why did I buy Avast?

It spends countless irritating minutes telling me how clever it has been and trying to flog me stuff, but it doesn’t fix issues.

I have an issue that has gone on for a year. I have used their help desk but it still persists.

When I sync Dropbox I get a popup about every 30 Seconds:

                THREAT BLOCKED
                          Object
                C:\users\*****\Dropbox\.dropbox.cache\~9bde3617.tmp
                           Infection
                       Win32:Adware-gen [adw]
                            Process
                C:\Program Files (x86)\dropbox\client\Dropbox.exe
                 The threat was detected and blocked when the file was created or modified
                
                  >Run Smart Scan

Well I have rum Smart Scan until I am blue in the face. No change

I am unable to find the folder .dropbox.cache on my C: drive, although I am set to show hidden files. So I am unable to track it back to Dropbox and delete it there.

Why on earth can it not just delete the wretched thing and shut up about it. It is driving me insane. It is currently popping up every 20 Seconds. I just timed it.

Some GENUINE help from Avast would be appreciated.

By the way, trying to read the image in the box below would be a challenge for an Eagle Hawk. I wonder if I will get past it. I just gave up last time.

Maybe bc it is in a temp file created evrytime dropbox sync
