When I go to the canon usa site and select:
Drivers and Downloads > Printers > IP Series > iP1800 > Drivers and Downloads > Windows 8.1 64bit I get “MalGen” something or other, see attachment. I called them and tried it on another computer also, but both had avast free on them. I wonder if someone would help as I don’t know much about infections and don’t know if it is safe to turn off, or whitelist that download link. The guy from Canon said he checked it and it was all good. I need this Driver of course for tomorrow.

Hello,
thanks for notice, URL will be unblocked. For such cases use https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php because on the forum it can be overlooked or take more time to be resolved.

Thank you! But I would like to understand if this was a Aavast thing or a Canon thing? From what you are saying here it is a Avast thing. But I got no Updates for Avast so how would this all of a sudden work if I didn’t get an update to fix it? It downloaded today just fine. Here is the Link that I was sent to when the connection was aborted by Avast:

Thanks Badass
But I got no Updates for Avast so how would this all of a sudden work if I didn't get an update to fix it?Are you sure, stream updates arrive evry 5-15min silently in the bacground
This could be done via “Virus Definitions” is what you are saying? Thanks Pondus
Yes
Thanks Pondus, I looked at the logs and there is all kinds of activity there, pretty cool. I was thinking with the free version I had to do that manually, as I’ve done it many times and there were Updates/Definitions awaiting download. I see now they would have eventually been done by avast.
False positives / False negatives / URL block are fixed by releasing signature updates
VPS updates may also containe minor program/bug fixes
Hi badass!
I’ve a Canon iP1900. Years ago it was said, that there’s no driver for Windows 7 or higher. 2 weeks ago, I was online with W7 and started the iP1900. The result you can see in the screenshot. Why didn’t you use the same way?
