Threat detection sound at startup, no popup, no actual threat

Hello there. Im a long time user (i think 10 years or so) and i am very happy with the software. however i seem to have finally encountered an odd bug.

When i log into windows (i am using Windows 7 Enterprise, 64 bit) around 1-2 seconds after i see the desktop i hear “Threat has been detected” Sound playing. No popup shows up. the option to show last popup message is greyed out (i think because it does not think there was a popup at all). I cannot find anything about a virus being detected neither in the UI nor in the logs.

This happens every time i turn on my computer. It appears that something is triggering the soundfile incorrectly.

The only change i can think of regarding when this started is Windows security updates installing via windows updater, though why would windows updates trigger this i do not know.

Thanks for the help,

Strazdas

Perform a repair of avast and see if things have changed.

Thank you for the swift response.

After running repair and restarting the machine, popup showed up and i was able to trace the actual culprit. Turns out one of programs running at startup is spooling website icons (favicon.ico file) for a list of connected websites, and one of them was detected with infection: “URL:Mal”. I have removed that website from the list of websites to be used by that program and expect this to be the end of the problem.

Thank you for your help. Turns out the sound was more correct than i was.

P.S. this forums capcha verifications are very hard :frowning:
