Seems like there is some hope this will be fixed in an upcoming release, but no details from Avast! team members. Since the Evangelists aren’t getting too worked up about it and its intermittent (i.e., I get “threat free” scans as well w/o taking any action), I’m taking the wait & see approach. Seems like a Phantom Positive as opposed to False Positive since nothing is identified.
I’d say its a little disquieting, though and undermines credibility to a degree.
It is indeed disquieting that this bug has gone unaddressed for this long; the last thing an AV program wants is for users to get used to ignoring false positives. -JW
Thanks folks. Guess I didn’t look hard enough. I too am a little disappointed that this has not been fixed. There’s a lot of activity in the Avast world (blogs, Facebook, Twitter etc.), shame they can’t address something like this.
