Threat has been detected alert - aol mail?

Hi,

Today, I’ve been reading some email from aol account, but it’s been setting off the ‘threat has been detected alert’. This is from various emails, so I think it’s more the aol site rather than actual email content that’s doing it. The report is:

Infection Details
URL: http://mail.aol.com/37105-111/aol-6/en-g
Process: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox…
Infection: URL:Mal

I’ve never had a problem with aol before, and suddenly I’ve had four popups from it in one day. Think it’s something in the site or one of their ad banners? Or do you think the problem is on my end and I have virus already on the computer that’s somehow working through the aol site? I don’t even think that’s possible (and I’m not a techy LOL) but it just seems odd that I’ve suddenly had four pop in one day after years of no problems with the site.

Also, it’s popped both when trying to click through to email on the main site, and when I’ve clicked the ‘new mail’ pop up that automatically opens the new message in a new tab.

having same issue today…

Yeah the same thing is happening to me when i receive an email i get a alert.

This AOL URL — http://webmail.aol.com/31509-111/aol-1/en-us/Suite.aspx — is being blocked.

Thanks…

Also starting getting Malware alert messages when I go to read my AOL mail. I’m on Firefox and can access the AOL main (news) page with no problem but as soon as I hit the “mail” button an Avast burgundy warning box appears warning of threat detected with the mail.

This started early this afternoon, Eastern time - was working fine this morning.
I am using the free Avast, just did a scan and everything is clear.

Avast misread? Aol prob? Firefox problem?

Joined up specifically to chime in that I’m also having this problem. It’s becoming very aggravating as I use AOL mail quite heavily. I’m also using Firefox and have just completed a full boot-up virus scan.

It’s been happening since around 2pm and seems to be getting worse.

you can report False Positive here http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php?

you may include a link to this topic…

Pondus, just reported it, however ‘is it a false positive’? Or, is there a problem with Firefox and/or AOL?

Whatever it is, it is not letting me access any of my AOL mail

The upside is, that at least I know I’m not the only one

Hello,
post the IP on which it resolves to you, please.

EDIT: Found blocked some IP, which belongs to AOL, maybe it will fix the problem.

hi bartoni, SD1988, os1946, Nightmare142, nascr318, cbminstrel,

Verified URL:Mal block by Avast! after logging on to AOL WebMail. (See screenshot attached below)

Various web scans run below for possible malware present:
http://www.urlvoid.com/scan/my.screenname.aol.com/
http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/
http://zulu.zscaler.com/submission/show/df8d0383d6dca236a862a2ad9d1c56d1-1350939160

The fact that both Sucuri and Urlquery both report the log on page as an invalid URL page is a little suspicious to me.

I’d wait to see if AOL sorts this out; reporting there would be good idea.

@ Milos, see attached .jpg. Should have the required info you need.

Since I did successfully log on, there is no way at present to log off, so…

See reply #8.

Current session with AOL technical department is now ongoing.

I somehow wound up on an affiliate site other that AOL chat help. Hope I did not get infected.

Will post back later results of online chat.

Things returned to normal last night…thanks Avast!

Thank you Avast! and AOL.
