Thuderbird and Avast

Avast don,t “see” Thunderbird ,Outlook works fine.
Is the a plugin needed for Thunderbird ?

Avast and Thunderbird work fine together, you only have to setup TB correctly.

Use the search option to find out more. Lots of threads are dealing with it.

What OS are you using?

If it’s win9x or winME, then you will need to run the Mail Protection Wizard or worst case have to set it up manually.

Check the avast help file for Setting up mail Protection. Switch of your email client and run the Mail Protection Wizard - Or you can set it up manually.

Or see this thread for further information and advice User’s FAQ - Mail Protection.

No plugin is needed for TB… I’m using it and avast works like a charm with it. Which is your operational system?

If you have Windows 98\Me, Thunderbird must be configurated manually. Change the setting of the email accounts into Thunderbird: Menu Tools > Account settings this way:

Pop3 (Inbound):

Server name: 127.0.0.1
User name: YourUserName#YourPopServerName
Port: 110

If you have Windows XP, avast 4.5 has a new mail detection that will work automatically. Please, set up your email account just as avast does not exists. It will detect the pop3/smpt/imap ports and scan your messages. Can you make a try and see if it’s ok? Thanks.

New email detection is automatic and do not require user interaction. Anyway, spam killer applications need manually change email account settings
