…and my computer immediately rebooted and seemed to come up normally. Used it for a little while then shutdown for the nite. Today, when I went to start, it either wouldn’t fully boot(freeze at some point) or wouldn’t even start to boot. Finally did get it to boot and it’s now running a malwarebytes scan which has found and quarantined one trojan and is still running…was this thumbs.db that I clicked part of the problem, or just coincidence(it did cause a reboot that didn’t seem right)…this thing is still on my desktop…not sure how to proceed…update…the mbam scan found 3 trojans in system restore, I think which I moved to chest, which I thought was the same as quarantine, but when the scan completed it said no malware detected, or something to that effect. I went to quarantine tab, and nothing showed todays date only items that were found on a scan a month ago…is moving to chest different than quarantine??? Maybe I should’ve looked closer at the selections, but I did the recommended course of action…I’m typing this update on the computer in question, it seems to be working fine, tho I haven’t attempted a reboot yet…I’ll let you know if any more probs develope, as I’m sure you’re waiting with bated breath…
Do you still have the thumbs.db file? Upload it to Virus Total to check if it is a virus. Post the results here.
The Chest is avast!'s quarantine. MBAM probably wasn’t able to delete the files from System Restore- they won’t be active there anyway.
To clean System Restore:
Create a clean restore point then delete all previous infected restore points

Have you updated to SP3 yet?
No sp3 yet…is malwarebytes part of Avast??? I ran the malwarebytes scan, it found 3 trojans which I moved to chest(recommended), but they don’t show in the list of quarantined items at scan completion…not sure what happened there…
No,malwarebytes is not a part of avast.Maybe you got avast and malwarebytes confused together.
You can check to see if the trojan is in the avast chest.
