I installed Thunderbird 2 yesterday (over TBir 1.5 working just fine) & only get sent messages rejected now. TBird says “Disabling a firewall usually only disables the user interface, leaving the firewall running in the background. This is not a true test. Go into your firewall and remove the permissions for Thunderbird. Reset them when you are prompted by the firewall to do so.” Does this apply to Avast4 Home? How?
1)avast is not a firewall.
2)avast does not have a clue which email client you use, it does not block email activity but does intercept email activity so that it can scan the flow of email data.
3)I am using Thunderbird 2 (since the beta program) along with multiple versions of avast now without any problems (as have many others).
4)To help us please give some more information on the error messages you are seeing.
Please give us, as exactly as possible, the error message you are seeing (obscure any information about your personal account)
Which firewall are you using?
What are the settings you are using for sending mail - which port is the SMTP server using in Thunderbird and what is the security setting?
If by is this the same for avast, you mean a deleting firewall permissions for avast and have the firewall ask permission for its processes that connect to the internet then yes.
Do you have a firewall (or is alan correct in you believe avast to be one) ?
If you have a firewall what is it ? - Does it allow ashMaiSv.exe internet access ?
- If it does delete the entries for them and do a manual update and reconnect to the internet, this will force the firewall to ask permission again (like your comment).
