When I´m using Thunderbird I saw this notes on message details:
avast! (VPS 0521-5, 29.05.2005), Outbound message
Where is the Inbound notes ? I use the same account to receiving messages with Thunderbirds.
Also when I´m starting Thunderbird that “blue ball” is rolling but when I click the button “send/receive” there´s no rolling if there´s no messages coming.
With Outlook Express and Foxmail I see also rolling ball and small “letter icon”.
With Thunderbird I cannot see that icon.
Strange, the Windows 2k should do it automatically and transparently.
Strange indeed the icon and that TB is not scanning the mail. Are you talking the same mail account used into OE (and same settings for them)? Is TB using the same port number of OE to receive mail?
No. Thunderbird is using my accounts from Gmail and the (incoming)POP3 port is 995.
and I use my default accounts port 25 to (outgoing) SMTP because there was problems with Gmail autenthication.
It´s really weird why Avast cannot scan incoming mails from Thunderbird like Foxmail and OE does ?
avast doesn’t scan gmail SSL (encrypted) email and since the incoming port is 995 and it only scans pop3 port 110 it won’t even see port 995 traffic.
You have to use Stunnel and configure it so avast scans it , then Stunnel encrypts and sends it. A search for Gmail and Stunnel should provide more information on how to set this up.
