Thunderbird problem with nsema which may be due to latest Avast software release

When sending email this last week from Thunderbird I get “There was a problem including the file C://///nsemail.html in the message. Would you like to continue sending the message without this file?”. If the message autosaves when composing the email that part is lost. The Mozilla forum says its the latest Avast software and I tried the Mozilla fix and it did not work and there next option was to ask on this forum.

Any ideas???

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

I have tried to solve the exact same problem with Window XP SP3 and Thunderbird 38.5.1. with Avast 10.4.2233 and later. For this reason I had to revert my friend’s Avast to version 10.2.2215. I had tried the wildcarding of nsemail.html but to no avail.

Avast Free
Avast version 11.1.2245
XP 32bit SP3
No other security software
Comodo was used a couple of years ago then removed when Avast was installed

As a workaround (till avast has solved it), add Thunderbirds temp folder to the exclusion list.
