Time Change

Hi,

We have a [younger] sister company in Scotland using Avast. It’s configured to run a PC scan every Wednesday night at 10PM their time.

Today [Thursday], I went in remotely to check on the results. Strange. While the Scheduler still says to run the scan at 10PM every Wednesday, the client side tasks reported a 9PM scan and a 10PM scan.

The server is current regarding updates.

As a follow up, they did change on October 26th. A bug somewhere?

I suppose the date and time of the computers are correct…

Yup. Right time zone as well.

Even still, it showed 2 schedulings instead of 1. 1 for 9PM and 1 for 10PM. We do the scan at 10PM.

Well, the 2 scans also happened to us [as we had our time change this past weekend].

First image shows the 2 scans. Second image shows my scheduling.

Our UK cousins are back to 1 scheduled scan this week, so ours will be as well.

Saw the same behavior in my network (in the USA). The first time each of Avast’s scheduled tasks ran after the time change, it ran twice. The duplicate runs were an hour apart.

There’s indeed a bug in the scheduler, causing the scheduled event to fire twice in case of daylight saving time change (twice a year).

It should be solved in the next netclient update (4.8), due very soon.

Thanks
Vlk

Thanks. I thought something was weird.
