After I carefully crafted this well-done KUDOS to Avast! along with a few suggestions… - Just because I got up for a cup of TEA - it TIMED-OUT and WIPED EVERYTHING I already typed! FOOEY! - I dropped MSN after 5 years because they just wouldn’t stop doing that to me! (In middle of long email, and bam! - all gone!)
Then, after I logged back in - "Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message. No subject was filled in. The message body was left empty. " - IIIIIEEEEOOOOOWWWW!!!
Sorry, All I can muster at present is -
In “Results of last scan” - how about a selection choice to “Add this entry to your Exclude List”? - OH yah, also - on M$ XP-64 (AMD Sempron 64 - 2.4 Gig) - a menu selection becomes permanent on the desktop - long after closing the App… - (no biggie) - later
PS - Still dam nice program… dam nice indeed… beats the “bear” hands down.
Yeah it happens to me all the time and I have no clue why. Even though I specifically checked Always stay logged in box, still the same…
@ irradiated_1 - When that happens it makes you wanna scream, right ? It is so ANNOYING… in the lack of better word. I fixed (temporary) my problem like this. When that happens and you have to sing in again, just do that. Sign in again in that window. Now, when you are signed in, your message windo will be completely empty… right ? yes… do not worry. Just press BACK button in your browser (I am not sure for other browsers but it works in IE) and voila. There will be old message window with your message inside. Just copy it (CTRL+C) to clipboard, and reopen that window and paste your message in it (CTRL+P).
I haven’t tried to simply repost it from within that same window, maybe it would also work but I didn’t want to take chances. Once you have your message copied to the clipboard, it’s easier to open new post window, paste the message and nicely send it from the scratch… it always work on my end
With a dial-up connection, which occasionally drops out I’m always doing the old Ctrl+C especially just before posting as I find that the time if something is going to happen it’s then (Sod’s Law in action).
I have found a tool which is also helpfull if you want to compose a post off-line for a Forum. It is called Fass by PawSoft http://www.pawsoft.com/?p=fass/home, it is able to apply the usual BBCodes recognised by most forums.
I still have those problems with loggin’ to the forum. Now I’m doing something similar to what Sasha said. And from now on I’ll use Fass by PawSoft for writting. Double precaution 8)
Fass is like an off-line composer that you can include the usuall text and link effects that you would if you were using the forum on-line. When you have composed your message
It isn’t like an enhanced clipboard manager and HTML editor, etc. so possibly not as useful as FlashPaste.
Wow! So much help - and I was actually surprised I wrote what I did - I guess one of those heat of the moment things - when I SHOULD be saying only GOOD things about Avast! - ha ha
Nice to see the honest concern - rather refreshing… Well, I think I Learned the error of my ways - just keep it short and to the point!
Thanks all! I’ll take the funds I wasted on the “Platinum bear” and put towards Avast! next year - a CLEARLY SUPERIOR package - (despite my own shortsightedness) - I must say that I have NOT been staring at the BSD’s since I installed it the first time. Everywhere I recommended the “other” - I am now advising Avast! instead. The mind-blowing part of it all is the home edition is free!
I reside just about 3 miles from the infamous Three Mile Island Nuke facility - hence, the bit of “tongue in cheek” monacer.
Merry Christmas! - Seasons Greetings!
Now, I have to check into - what’s this I see? Something about a LINUX version? No Way! mmmoooohhhhaaaa (rubbing hands feverishly…)
