Tips for regular windows 10 backups?

Hey guys,

I wanted to ask for some tips for a regular backup solution for windows 10.

Until now I just used to windows function “create a system image”: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5495-create-system-image-windows-10-a.html
I also read that the free version of macrium seems also to be a commonly used program.

My requirements are:

  • regular image of my complete computer
  • would be best if that image could be also restored on a different computer, if my currently used computer breaks completely and would not be able to install the backup (I just read that this seems not to be garanteed for the free Macrium software only for the paid one)

Your recommendations and tips would be really appreciated!

As I read in some forums the integrated windows function seems to fail sometimes when you want to restore the backup, but I have no experience with that.

Additionally it seems not to be possible to restore the backup on a different computer which I would like to be able to in case of necessity. Especially this point seems to be covered only by the paid versions of some backup softwares :-\

I’ve used the built in image backup function since Windows 7. Never had a problem with restoring an image. I’ve also no had a problem putting that image onto a new or different drive.
