Tips to protect against "Autorun.inf" related viruses

I use this trick and it always work with no problem…

A)
Read this topic to disable Autorun function on your computer (Windows)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967715

B)
If you regularly use memory stick drives and plug them in your friends computers, than always is the risk to get infected with all kind of threats
Ex: “Recycled” folder in memory drive root and a hidden “autorun.inf” file.
This tip will not protect against all random generated folders, but from blocking the virus to write its “autorun.inf”
To protect your memory stick drive follow those steps:
01 - Backup all data on your stick, if any;
02 - Format it in NTFS format;
03 - Create a empty Autorun.inf file on disk root;
04 - Open file properties;
05 - Open “Advanced…” and select “Encrypt contents to secure data” to colorize the file in green for faster recognition! (Style only)
06 - Go back to properties and select Read-Only attribute and press “Apply”;
07 - Go to security tab and select “Advanced”;
08 - Go to Owner Tab (vista) and edit from “Administrators” to your “UserName”;
09 - Go to Permissions tab and press “Edit…”;
10 - Clear selection “Include inheritable permissions from this object’s parent” and press “Copy” on question;
11 - Delete all in “Permissions entries:” if any, except “Everyone”;
12 - Edit “Everyone” permissions and select “Full control” to “Deny”;
13 - If there are 2 “Everyone” entries remove the one with “Allow”;
14 - Now press Ok,Ok,Ok,Ok, :slight_smile: and hope that the viruses can’t undo this security!

It “vaccinate” the computer, but was unable to delete my Autorun.inf :stuck_out_tongue: from a NTFS memory stick, and after a manual unsecured and delete get stack, maybe because is beta with NTFS.
But the idea is good…
