Tired of Avast failures.

I’ve been using Avast in the past 10 years and I installed Avast on at least 50 computers in this time because I was very pleased with it.
But the latest versions are absolute nightmares.

  1. Why does Avast have to scan an app every time it launches? EX I open an explorer page and it scans the process. i closed it and I launch it again, it scans it again and it does that with every aplication. Not clever.
  2. Avast reputation makes browsing a nightmare. Firefox lags if this is activated . I can’t even scroll the page.
3 On facebook sometimes hitting like button doesn’t do nothing. I dezactivate Avast for 10 minutes and FB is working again. And it does that in the current version too.( updated yesterday).

Things can change every second.
That is why they need to be scanned each time.

2]
Perform a clean installation of the latest avast version and see if things improve.
FireFox, Chrome and Internet Explorer are by default slow browsers.
If you want to try a much faster browser:
ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/1217/int/

Facebook is sending a lot of unneeded things/code.
Nothing avast can do about.

Eddie,
Is this current version of opera? If not, please explain. I would love to find a faster browser. I currently use Light Firefox. I have tried the current version of opera and it wasn’t any faster than FF and used more RAM than FF.

No, it is not the latest version.
It is the latest build using the Presto engine.
Later builds are based on Chromium and are a lot slower.

I would say give that build a try and see if you like it or not.
If not, simply remove it.
It would really surprise me if it isn’t faster than anything you have now

OK-I’ll try it and post back.

Is there any added security risks in using this older build?

Nope, no extra security risks at all.
I’ve been using Opera for many years without any problem(s) at all.
Keep in mind that it is much more lucrative to attack browsers that the majority of people are using than it is to attack a browser that only a “few” people are using.

I ran into a problem with Opera and got the attached page.

1 Agree But is eating to much time, needs optimization.
2 I dont’t think you know much about browsers. Firefox is much faster the those mentioned by you. I have right now 4 tabs in firefox and opened one on amazon. Had to stay about 30 seconds to run all smooth. I closed the amazon tab and add another 30 seconds to run all smooth, never happened that before the last 2 avast updates. I have Opera and is based on Chrome. Is fast but is eating memory very fast. If u have more than 8 tabs thing will get messy. chrome is out of the question. You want a fast browser ? Install Maxthon.
3 Maybe is pushing too much code but with avast disabled all runs smooth.

I have programmed a browser once myself.
I think it is safe to say that I do know a at least something about browsers.

3]
Everything runs faster if it isn’t scanned.
