-= I keep seeing these “April-1-danger”… So, is conficker really released today…?
Yup its out there:

He say April Fools day is this real or no ?
The planet is now well into April 1st. It appears that the predictions of massive Cornficker doom and destruction will have to await another inauspicious date.
Hi allanrf,
Conficker is an overhyped issue, fully patched and following prescribed security practices the risk on infection is minimal, a Win32: Vitro infection is another beast altogether and will lead to total recall of the machine. A lot of malware comes in under the radar, stays under the radar, only makes the victim’s computer soooo slow, the victim may be unaware that he or she does no longer own this computer and his machine helps to keep the spam output like it always have been. The people that do not know or feel like computer security help the status quo: no malware detected, cybercrime business as usual, anti malware business as usual, everybody happy thanks to the unaware,

F-Secure is posting updates on their Blog about the worm. http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/
I saw an interesting news item this morning, I forget where … some security expert said he doubts whether this latest Conficker will become active today. As he put it, if he were the perp then today’s the one day he wouldn’t make it active, since with all the news coverage nearly everyone will be extra vigilant and cautious today.
EVERYBODY RUN FOR THEIR LIVES!!! CONFICKER IS COMING!!! OMG!Grin
Looks like my comps don’t have any problems…
Oh yeah, it’s because this thing isn’t a big deal!
The computer I’m working on right now is protected by Deep Freeze.
I wish it would get infected so I could see just how well this protection really works.
;D
Never happen bob…
We’re all too good!
Anyway, I thought I saw something about the virus not becoming active today due to all of the “hype.” Who knows though, there’s so much mis-information circulating about this it’s not even funny.
Almost as much hype as the year 2000 received with all of it’s predictions of Doom and Gloom… ;D

Heh, That’s exactly what popped into my head when everyone started asking about it here. I just started shaking my head…
Some of our Forum member may not remember that far back… ;D
lol ;D
Hi malware fighters,
Back to the real info here, nice write up about Conficker: http://www.iss.net/threats/conficker.html

I retired shortly before 2000 and remember all the Y2K hype and the media was predicting that airplanes would crash and other nonsense and when 2000 New Years Day came I was enjoying myself in Playa Del Coco Costa Rica eating a meal of fresh caught Tuna sushi with a dab of Wasabi and a cold beer for $5.00US listening to music emanating from cars parked on the road with the locals walking or dancing by.
I took the whole day off, just to see what was going to happen to you guys. Not much, I guess. What a bummer…
-= Ok… So its April 2 already… Hmm… Isn’t there something weird…? Shouldn’t the “conficker-makers” made the release a secret because if they’ll announce it, the worm would surely be given an “anti-conficker” patch…? So, inthat case, they probably try to cease all “red alerts” from antivirus companies thinking that they already created a vaccine for it then surprise them with a second edition of Variant C… Maybe, the April’s Fool release is just a prelude to the “real” release of the real conficker worm…
-= Haha… Pardon my wild imagination… ;D
-= By the way, what are the signs that you are infected with conficker…?
No, you’re right.
But if it infects a bunch of sites and shuts them down, they won’t be able to make any advertising money.
I think it’s good anyway, because it just makes people freak out and do what they should have been doing… update their computers.
