Hello
Yesterday I went online to try and activate a “Health Card” but would allow and kept getting a error, said to call Tech Support. So after three tries I did. They said it could be something with PC or Network so I allowed them to see if there was something. He went into the Editor and typed a lot and he pointed to CSRSS.exe saying that is or could be a potential Trojan. I told him I had Premium Avast for years and had never had anything …so far…pop up.
He said it’s not a Virus, a Trojan and that’s two different issues. Plus he said several times; this is in your (my) network(?). He left and came back 10 minutes later saying based on talking to his “Supervisors” it was recommended I buy some really expensive Security Package (like $340 3yrs, $600 Lifetime).
So I said I’d look into it along with this ‘Trojan CSRSS.exe’. So I found it’s mainly a legit MS Program and vital but there could be malware, tracking, virus, trojan disguised as it. So I downloaded Malwarebytes and RKill, ran both, ran Avast again, then ran all three in System32…nothing came up. So I ran regedit, searched registry and only one line popped up…
ScanAreas…“C:\Windows\System32\csrss.exe”
So is this something that Is or could be legit and if so is there other ways to do a scan, search, another tool…or is this blown up out of proportion and nothing to be concerned about. By the way, I saw on another forum abut this CSRSS.exe and someone called some Tech Line and they tried to get her to buy some expensive Security Package…
