Too many avast icons in the systray

Hello,

I am using the last free Avast software running on Windows 10 Professional.

Why are there so many icons in the systray after doing some internet access or file openings ?

Thank you very much.

Screenshot please …

Avast shouldn’t be spawning icons in the system tray, for most people there will only be one avast icon. Those using SecureLine, I think will see another, but that is a paid option that won’t be there if you haven’t paid for it.

As Pondus suggests a screenshot would be very helpful.

If you have Avast and SecureLine, this is what you’ll see:

Without secure line you should only see the Avast logo.

Here goes (attached) the Screenshot you’ve asked for. I did not succeed on pasting the image on the text. How should I do that ?

I have had already more than five Avast icons on the systray.

If I pass the mouse over them they go out of the systray and only the real Avast icon rest.

Reboot your computer, does the issue persist?

I have found out that one event that makes one extra Avast icon be shown in the systray is to connect to any of the VPNs I use for client maintenance.

My laptop is being shutted down every day so rebooting will not make any difference.

Now I have three Avast icons in the systray.

I think I should tell you I am a developer and I have a Web server and an Oracle instance running on my laptop, so this might make any difference on the behaviour of Avast.

Next step is to try an avast! repair:
Vista, win7 or later - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. It seems to have solved the problem. I will follow to see if the problem start again.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

You’re welcome.

Hello,

Tonight there was again more than one Avast icon in the systray.

So, the solution was not effective.

I think I will download the last version from the Avast website, uninstall Avast and Install it from the downloaded file.

Best regards.

Hello,

I have uninstalled Avast from the Windows Control Panel and installed the last Avast version, it seems to be Ok, I will give it a try. If the problem persists I will do as you’ve suggested.

Best regards.
