TOO MANY UPDATES!

Hi everyone!

I have a problem with Microsoft updates. I did a partial (none total destruction) recovery, and as you know Microsoft’s updates immediately wants you to download updates. I had completely forgotten a past unpleasant experience I had when I allowed the auto update feature to download about 30 of them (may have been more) at one time and to my horror found my machine totally locked up and had to do a complete destructive recovery. Well now it seems that Monday Windows updated itself with a whole slew of updates when I was shutting down my p.c. Now I can run my computer but I’m having freezing, incomplete closure of programs and all sorts of extremely annoying behavior! What I want to do is go in and remove every update that auto downloaded on that date. Of course I’m scared to death since I heard you get frightening, ominous messages when you attempt to touch them!! Has anyone else had this experience? I may just do a destructive recovery to rid myself of them! Should I manually remove them first or just do the recovery? ???

It’s difficult to say… It will be good if we can narrow the 30+ updates to a few of them.
The most problematic could be the hardware related, but they aren’t, generally, release as mandatory ones, but eligible.
Can you go Control Panel > System > Device manager and take a look if any hardware is bad installed (marked with an yellow question mark)?

For what I know you can set Windows Update to just “NOTIFY ME” (instead of “AUTOMATIC”) and even check for Windows Update to forget about the updates you never want to be bothered with again. :o

Just open the Security Section in the Control Panel
and choose your options.

On a totally other side, it has been a while since 2007 I’m finding there are TOO MANY UPDATES often COMPLICATED (NOT EASY) regarding all our security softwares. Gees, what’s worst than getting a virus or a Trojan or a keylogger or a spyware than all these updates that take up to 70-80% of my precious time and bandwidth on Internet. Worst, I don’t know if I’m kidding when I say that and I don’t know how many web users are thinking about the same (my brother-in-law is one). I mean as a wish for 2008 isn’t there a way to REDUCE the frequency of the various UPDATES. It’s equivalent to go to the clinic 200km from home each day for a vaccination!!!.. It’s annoying for sure… :frowning:

isn't there a way to REDUCE the frequency of the various UPDATES
Sure there is. Talk to the guys who write the viruses and Trojans and malware and ask them to take a holiday. ;D ;D ;D
