it’s what I get for trying to download a non-english tv show. Both utorrent’s custom ipfilter and Avast found a file full of pedophilic crap hidden in the metadata of the .mkv file. It was in an encrypted archive, I couldn’t open it. So when it showed up malware I sent a report to you guys and I’m in the process of filing a complaint with IC3.
Yeesh. I really hope this doesn’t bite me in the butt.
Just get it the hell off of your computer! These lawsuits that have been going around lately are proving that an IP address doesn’t identify a person, because it could be anyone using that person’s Internet. If they find files on your computer though, you could be in some deep doo doo.
File the complaint, remove the files (use something like http://www.fileshredder.org/) and stop downloading stuff like that.
Holy crap. That is awful. Let me just say this: I learned a long time ago to stay away from torrents, whether the content is in English or not. The language of the content does not matter. I agree with Joe–the best thing would be to stay away from Torrents and things like micro torrent, also known as “utorrent.” It’s really tempting, but it’s not worth it. .
If I were you, I would check out some of the threads in the virus and worm section. I believe Pondus has a thread on malware removal. As for the file itself, I’m sure you’ve already gotten rid of it. .
