Trash

Hi,
Is it possible to remove the Avast entry from the trash?

I don’t believe so, well not without removing it from all windows explorer context menu entries.

The reason this occurs is that the Recycle Bin is treated in the same way as any other windows folder location.

OK then I guess that’s not possible
Thanks

Hi,
the trash context menu entries (only) are in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\shell
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\

If you find the “avast” key, maybe you can delete it … it should no longer appear in the trash menu but kept in the other windows contextual menus ?
Don’t forget to backup your registry before deleting the key … just in case

To bounce on what Dave says, in my case the Recycle Bin isn’t treated in the same way as any other windows folder location … see screenshot

Thanks
But I didn’t understand what I have to do with the registry keys, however the second key there isn’t in my regedit I use Windows 10

Sorry, I also don’t understand why you don’t have the “avast” key as you have both of ccleaner.
As far as I’m concerned, if I delete one or both of ccleaner key, they no longer appear in the context menu of the recycle bin. :-
I don’t want to make you go further with the registry keys  , maybe try with a google search if you want to go further.

After you did the registry change or before ?

Plus was there anything in the Recycle Bin when you did your test. I can replicate the same image, when there is nothing in the Recycle Bin. Which is why I had to place some old images in there to see the Avast context menu entry.

Personally I rarely place anything in the Recycle Bin, I use Shift+Delete key to permanently remove them rather than put them in the Recycle Bin.

You’re right, I didn’t have avast in the menu because there was nothing in the trash … With something, the menu appears too, sorry. :-
What does not prevent me from thinking that it should be able to remove as I can do it with programs that embed themselves (ccleaner , tuneup , privZer , OoO , …)

There used to be an avast5.ini hack to remove the context menu entry but that removed it from all explorer locations including the Recycle Bin. I guess that would still be available by changing the registry value from 1 to 0, but that would be an all or nothing.

I honestly don’t see why this is a problem with it being in the Recycle Bin context menu (for any one, given the frequency anyone uses it) and when you consider the other ones already in there in Donnje image attachment.

Is possible delete it completely with Shell Extension Manager but in this case I prefer to leave it in the trash, thanks
