That happens sometimes on my system after a resolution change (like after playing an old game). Is there something on your system startup that might be messing with the resolution?
Another thing I notice in your tray (if I’m remembering correctly) leads me to think your graphics are the Intel embedded on your MB? If that’s the case, I’ve seen all kinds of weird things from time to time on the systems at work that use Intel embedded graphics. Usually a driver reinstall fixes any issues on the systems I’ve worked on. Maybe you could check to see if there’s a driver update available or try reinstalling?

Not sure if it is embedded, I think it is…
Where do i get the update if I can?
And it doesn’t happen all of the time…just randomly…
Changing to 16-bit mode usually happens when you have old software (ex playing Lode Runner on WinVista) or there is a problem with the drivers/gfx card.
I’ve never tried my on-board graphics card but you should probably go to Zcontrol Panel → System → Device Manager and look for an update to your graphics driver.
I would get the update from Intel with it being their graghics chip, install it reboot, generally you`ll get better performance and compatability, hopefully fix your little glitch aswell…
