Trial version immediately expired, can't return to avast free

I installed a 20 day trial of Internet Security. But immediately after installing it Avast is saying that my computer is not protected and the license is expired and zero days left of trial. I had no problems before installing the trial. I then wanted to return to Avast free but I don’t know where I can do it. What should I do?

Perform a clean installation.

Have you tried to uninstall the trial version ???
It should offer you the option to convert to the Free version.
Simply follow that option.

Thanks bob3160, that worked. Per some old(?) instructions I found on the web, there was supposed to be a button somewhere to do this easily, but now the option is well hidden until you just say “fk it, I’ll remove the whole thing.” Clever b*stards.
